NAR and VA Release New Video Series on VA Home Loans

The National Association of REALTORS® and the Department of Veterans Affairs launched a joint video series Thursday for REALTORS® to help more veterans and active-duty buyers purchase a home using VA loans. The two-part series aims to dispel misconceptions about the VA Home Loan Guaranty Program and guide REALTORS® and home buyers through the process.

NAR President Leslie Rouda Smith moderated the video discussions with John Bell III, acting executive director of the Department of Veterans Affairs Loan Guaranty Service, and Mark Worrilow, MRP, AHWD, licensed broker at Fathom Realty’s Prince William-Fairfax office in Virginia and instructor for NAR’s Military Relocation Professional certification. “Veterans and service members face unique challenges when purchasing a home, especially in this strong housing market,” Rouda Smith says. “These videos will help our members navigate the VA home loan process and maximize its benefits for veterans.”

The first part of the video series explores the advantages of the VA Home Loan Guaranty Program and how REALTORS® can help veterans successfully use these loans, while the second part examines common consumer concerns about the program and solutions to those challenges.

The project came about after Rouda Smith and Bell’s joint appearance before the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity in December. During her testimony, Rouda Smith highlighted the importance of strengthening the VA Home Loan Guaranty Program and outlined solutions proposed by REALTORS®. “We will continue to work with the VA and policymakers to make the path to homeownership easier for those who have selflessly served our country,” Rouda Smith adds.
